Snapchat’s Biggest Redesign Ever: Here’s All You Need To Know

s undertaking its most significant redesign in years, reducing from five to three tabs: one for chats and Stories with friends, one for the camera, and another for a TikTok-style feed of full-screen videos from artists and publishers. Simple Snapchat, the redesign of Snapchat was announced onstage Tuesday at Snap’s annual Partner Summit in Los Angeles. “It brings Stories closer to conversations, it simplifies content discovery, and it brings people straight into our camera to express themselves,” Snap CEO Evan Spiegel told a media outlet. Snap Map, direct messages, the camera, and two options of Stories and Spotlight are the five primary options in Snapchat before the update. In this new design, Snap Map will be located in the messaging section as well as Stories from friends and followed people. To the right of the camera, as presented during the event, users will be able to see a single new ‘For You’ that includes the Spotlight and content from other media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal and Daily Mail. This gradual change is expected to improve user interaction and allow the company to analyze changes in user engagement with the content over time. The company generates the majority of its revenue from advertisements that are displayed along with this content. Consequently, it is implementing the redesign gradually so “we can understand any changes in content dynamics,” as Spiegel states.
